VancouverVancouver is British Columbia's largest city with a population of 545,671. The Greater Vancouver metropolitan area has over 2.2 million people.
Vancouver is located on the West Coast of British Columbia. The city is bounded on the west by the Georgia Straight and on the north by Coast Mountains. Vancouver is bounded on the south by Richmond and in the East by Burnaby and New Westminster.
Vancouver is part of the Greater Vancouver Regional District or GVRD. The GVRD is a partnership of 21 cities and municipalities - Anmore ; Belcarra ; Bowen Island ; Burnaby ; Coquitlam ; Delta ; City of Langley ; Township of Langley ; Lions Bay ; Maple Ridge ; New Westminster ; City of North Vancouver ; District of North Vancouver ; Pitt Meadows ; Port Coquitlam ; Port Moody ; Richmond ; Surrey ; Vancouver ; West Vancouver ; White Rock .
Vancouver is world renowned for its scenic surroundings. Vancouver has an extensive park system. Vancouver has the world's largest urban park, Stanley Park.
The city is one of the world's most multicultural city. Chinese account for the largest visible minority group in Vancouver. Other large ethnic groups are the Indo-Canadians, Filipinos, Vietnamese and Japanese. There are also a variety of Aboriginal groups in the city.
Vancouver is truly a world-class city. It consistently ranks within the top five of the world's best places to live. Vancouver will be hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics. This will draw a significant number of people to the city within the next few years.
